What is a Masochist

I never considered myself a Masochist, not in the true sense of the word. Yes I get off on some pain during sex and play but nothing hard core. Spanking, rough nipple play is about as bad as it gets... but is physical pain the only pain to be the definition of a masochist? I looked up the meaning and it seems not -

mas·och·ism
"gratification gained from pain, deprivation, degradation, etc., inflicted or imposed on oneself, either as a result of one's own actions or the actions of others, esp. the tendency to seek this form of gratification."

Today i realised i am a masochist, not in the form of physical pain but more emotion. No matter how much that man(Mr. X) hurts me, crushes me, sends me to the deepest despair, I still keep going back to me. i spent 2 weeks crying over him.. why? He couldn't care less about me, I know this and yet i still keep going back for more... I need help!

I don't know that emotional masochist play is any less painful that physical pain. My own tastes can be ... interesting ... but I don't know if I'd like to inflict pain beyond the act itself. Certainly I'd be perfectly willing to do as requested, and I may even like it, but as you imply, sometimes it can be unhealthy.

My view is that whatever you wish to do can be done with respect to your partner/s, and leave it inside the occasion itself. Having it cause you distress in everyday life is not helpful or healthy. Life is tough enough as it is!

And the transformative power of it can be theraputic. Sex can be so intimate that it can unleash all that is within you, which I hope can be better than letting it fester within, like a cancer. It can aid your dealing with issues that might have no other outlet.

At the end of the day, consenting adults must ask each other what they want, and where the borders lie. Permission is something which can be freely given, and withdrawn. Sex can be fun, and a great way to relieve stress! (as every woman with a rabbit knowns!). It is best if it is something that is benificial, whatever way you like to do it.

Hope this of some help. Drop me a line sometime.
